Ken-Sil Sports
For decades kids from Kennedy Heights and Silverton (and various other neighborhoods) have played ball and even boxed under the Ken-Sil name. And Ken-Sil has been known around town as a name to be reckoned with.

There's a lot of history there that this webwriter doesn't know and won't guess at. If you know a piece of that history, pass it along to the webwriter & we'll share it.

Ken-Sil Rebounds

At one time there was a single Ken-Sil organization that sponsored several sports. Over the years that has evolved into three Ken-Sil organizations, each organized around a single sport.

The soccer organization, for example, was born in the mid-80's under the leadership of Charles Clingman, who was concerned that Kennedy Heights kids had little access to soccer. Hundreds of kids have since grown up playing Ken-Sil soccer and won their share of trophies. Some moved on to play college soccer.

Basketball is the newest Ken-Sil group, being rejuvenated by Walter Maupin. He has had a great response from kids who want to play hoops. They practice at the Pleasant Ridge Community Center.

Representatives of the three organizations met in mid-November and agreed to forge The Ken-Sil Network. All three sports are looking for both players and coaches. To volunteer for either-- or to learn more about Ken-Sil--contact Melissa Kitchen, the Ken-Sil Network Coordinator.
