Growing Access for All: Support Woodford Academy’s Garden Fence Fundraiser
At Kennedy Heights Community Council, we believe every child deserves safe, meaningful opportunities to learn and explore and that includes access to outdoor spaces like school gardens.
Right now, students in Woodford Academy’s Autism and Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) programs are unable to safely access their garden due to fencing limitations. This space has the potential to be a powerful hands-on learning environment, offering sensory-rich experiences, life skills, and inclusive enrichment for neurodivergent learners—but safety must come first.
That’s why Woodford has launched a Garden Fence Fundraiser Campaign to make this space accessible to all students.
We’re proud to share that Kennedy Heights Community Council has already contributed $500 to help move this project forward, bringing the current fundraising total to over $4,000. It’s a strong start, but community support is what will bring this vision fully to life.
This project is about more than a fence. It’s about:
Expanding access to outdoor education
Supporting students with diverse learning needs
Creating a safer, more inclusive environment for all children
If you’re a Kennedy Heights resident or simply someone who believes in accessibility and safety for children with special needs, we invite you to join us in supporting this effort.
How to Help: Donations can be made online (click here to donate) and every contribution makes a difference. If you choose to give, please be sure to include “Woodford Fence” in your donation note so your gift is directed to this campaign.
Together, we can help ensure that every Woodford student has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive in a space designed with their needs in mind.
